Student's story: Nicole Motivane

Nicole Motivane

Nicole Motivane’s journey into UX/UI design is as unique as her creative vision. With a background rooted in international business and a love for the arts, Nicole’s path to finding her niche was anything but straightforward.

Originally, Nicole pursued a degree in International Relations at Saint Petersburg State University, delving into the political and business structures of different countries. This exploration gave her a deep understanding of cultural nuances and a keen sense of empathy for diverse needs across the globe. During her studies, she focused on the Middle East, which eventually took her to Istanbul, where she learned Turkish and immersed herself in the antique business. Her experiences there shaped her knowledge of art and luxury industries while working with Turkish auction houses and the UK market.

Despite her accomplishments, Nicole felt something was missing. She wanted to merge her creative side with her business expertise but lacked the structure to translate ideas into user-centered solutions. That’s when she discovered UX/UI design — a field that combined her passions and offered the discipline and technical skills she was searching for.

"I knew what I wanted to get in the end"

Nicole approached the bootcamp with clear goals and no doubts. The program was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Adapting to a fast-paced learning environment and mastering new skills were no small feats, but Nicole stayed motivated by focusing on her ultimate vision and the excellent mentoring she received throughout the course.

The most surprising aspect for Nicole was the sheer amount of valuable information she absorbed in such a short time. The intensity of the curriculum and the tight deadlines pushed her to grow faster than she anticipated. The course not only provided technical skills but also helped her refine her personal style and design philosophy.

"Creating something that works—that’s the real reward"

Nicole now feels confident in her ability to take on future UX/UI roles. She is actively seeking opportunities where she can apply her new skills to create meaningful, functional designs. The bootcamp taught her to balance creativity with usability, enabling her to craft products that truly resonate with users.

Looking back, Nicole wouldn’t change a thing about her learning journey. Her advice to future students is simple but powerful: "Create your style and follow the course insights to find your authentic approach in design."

While she continues her job search, Nicole is refining her portfolio and sharpening her skills. She’s grateful for the mentorship and support that helped her stay focused and achieve her goals. Nicole’s work reflects her unique background, blending her international perspective with a passion for creativity and user-centered solutions.
